POMPEII

If you are planning to visit Italy, then Pompeii is a must! Pompeii is a partly buried Roman town near Naples. The town was partly destroyed by an eruption from the volcano Mount Vesuvius over two days in 79AD.
The ash that fell has preserved many of the buildings and bodies and you can roam the same streets the Romans would have done then. It is an amazing place to visit as it feels like you are stepping back in time but at the same time it is also sad, as these people died not know what was happening or with any warning.
Tickets into Pompeii are 11euros and you can get there by bus or train or if you are on a package holiday then normally you can organise it with your tour operator. One recommendation from me if you do go is to buy a decent map of the site. If you don€™t you could be wondering around for ages and get lost in the small roads which can be exhausting, especially in the heat!
